Most of the phosphorus found in plant-based feed ingredients—especially cereal grains—is bound to phytic acid and is therefore referred to as phytate phosphorus. Supplementing poultry diets with a phytase enzyme to release this phytate-bound phosphorus and reduce the need for added phosphorus sources is both essential and cost-effective.
