Vitamin A is a fat-soluble vitamin that must be supplied through the diet. It exists in three forms: retinol, retinal, and retinoic acid. Retinol is the alcohol form of vitamin A. Vitamin A and its precursors, carotenoids, are rapidly degraded by oxygen, heat, light, and acids.
Commercial forms of this vitamin are combined with acetate, palmitate, or propionate to improve stability and provide a suitable physical form. Vitamin A absorption depends on fat absorption; therefore, any factor that enhances fat absorption will also improve vitamin A absorption, and vice versa. Normal growth of body organs, cell division, and cell differentiation depend on adequate vitamin A.
In chicks, vitamin A deficiency is associated with the following signs:
Reduced growth and decreased productivity
Weakness, lethargy, and paleness of the comb and wattles
Eye and nasal discharge and sticky eyelids
Damage to internal epithelial tissues and mucosal linings, such as the lining of the crop, esophagus, trachea, lungs, and more
Severe kidney damage and reduced ability to excrete uric acid, leading to signs of gout and imbalance
This imported Vitamin A supplied by Arian Roshd Afza is manufactured by Weishi (China) and provides 1,000,000 IU of Vitamin A per gram.
